
EGED Programme Annual Conference
On 24-25 September 2025, Dushanbe hosted the third international Data for Policy Action Regional Conference, organized under the UK-funded Effective Governance for Economic Development (EGED) Programme. The event brought together more than 150 participants from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, including senior government officials, policy experts, civil society representatives, and international partners.

The conference explored how data, research, and evidence-based policymaking can drive equitable and inclusive economic growth across Central Asia. Discussions highlighted practical examples where EGED-supported reforms have:
- Delivered better outcomes for citizens
- Simplified and improved policy delivery
- Strengthened civil society engagement in monitoring and shaping reforms
Day one featured a dynamic plenary on equitable growth, showcasing how evidence helps reduce poverty, protect vulnerable groups, and make economic progress benefit all. Sessions addressed modernizing the business regulatory environment, designing sub-national development strategies, and responding to climate challenges.






Day two focused on sub-national planning, public finance strategies, and adaptive governance, emphasizing how governments can use data to listen, learn, and deliver more effectively. Delegates shared experiences and innovations shaping the future of policymaking in the region.
