On 5 February 2026, an analytical meeting was held in Khujand under the project “Supporting Subnational Economic Growth and Improving Public Service Delivery in Tajikistan”, implemented as part of the Effective Governance for Economic Development (EGED) Programme. The event was organized by the Public Organization Saodat in partnership with the Development Policy Institute (DPI).
The meeting brought together representatives of the pilot jamoats of Puloton and R. Khamroboev (Kanibadam), Gulkhona and Gulakandoz (Jabbor Rasulov District, Sughd Region), as well as local government officials, experts, entrepreneurs, and civil society representatives.
The key outcome of the meeting was the agreement on priority areas for the economic development of the pilot jamoats and the establishment of a shared analytical foundation to support future local initiatives. Participants jointly assessed the economic potential of their territories, identified promising growth sectors, and discussed preliminary priorities for community microprojects to be supported through the project’s grant mechanism.
The meeting reaffirmed the project’s key objectives, including:
- strengthening the role of jamoats in local economic planning and investment facilitation;
- improving the quality of data and the use of citizens’ feedback in decision-making;
- supporting the development of value chains in priority economic sectors;
- increasing the participation of women, youth, and the private sector in local development; and
- strengthening the link between local development plans and national development priorities.
Participants noted that the meeting laid the groundwork for practical actions to accelerate subnational economic growth and improve the quality of public service delivery at the local level.

The event was held with financial support from the UK Government through FCDO.
