On October 10, 2025, the At-Bashy district of Naryn region hosted the national conference “Great History, Great Values of Great Mountains,” aimed at showcasing the region’s rich historical and tourism potential. The event brought together more than 260 participants, including government officials, local self-government bodies, academics, entrepreneurs, civil society representatives, teachers, and community leaders. The event was organized by the district administration in cooperation with the Ch. Aitmatov Institute of Language and Literature of the National Academy of Sciences and Naryn State University, as part of the district’s Social and Economic Development Programme.

The District Coordination Council played a key role in organizing the conference. It designed the agenda, identified priority topics, and selected speakers from government, business, education, culture, and civil society. The Council facilitated effective cooperation among stakeholders, moderated the sessions, gathered participants’ recommendations, and incorporated them into the final resolution. Its coordinated work ensured a high-quality event aligned with the strategic development plans of At-Bashy district.
The conference focused on increasing At-Bashy’s investment attractiveness through the promotion of its historical heritage, unique landscape, and cultural traditions. It also supported the goals outlined in the national concept “Uluttuk Dem – Düynölük Biyiktik,” which emphasizes cultural identity, historical preservation, and the role of spiritual values in national development. Key attention was given to major historical monuments located in the district – Koshoy-Korgon, Chech-Dobo, and Tash-Rabat – highlighted both as cultural treasures and as drivers of tourism-based economic growth.

Stalbek Naryndykov, Chairman of the At-Bashy Entrepreneurs Association, emphasized the district’s strategic advantages: its ancient historical sites, proximity to China, growing logistics hub, and its position on the Great Silk Road. He noted that combining historical preservation with modern tourism, entrepreneurship and education will generate new jobs, empower local youth, and open additional opportunities for investment.
Participants viewed a documentary and presentations covering strategic development priorities, opportunities for SMEs, the role of the historical figure Koshoy in the “Manas” epic, and archival records about At-Bashy. The conference then continued in thematic sessions, where experts discussed how to transform historical and cultural resources into tourism products, improve collaboration between universities and schools, preserve architectural monuments, support local entrepreneurs, and attract private investment for regional growth.

The thematic sessions concluded with the adoption of a resolution recommending the restoration of key historical sites, development of tourism, job creation, youth engagement, and strengthened cooperation between government, business, and academia. Closing the conference, the head of the rayon Emilbek Abdykadyrov expressed confidence that the coordinated efforts of government, business, and society will provide impetus for the district’s development: “Today’s efforts are the foundation of tomorrow’s future.”
