
On 26 May 2025, the EGED Programme convened the “Digital Data and Development” Round Table in Tashkent, bringing together government representatives, media professionals, civil society, and development partners to strengthen dialogue on transparency and accountability in Uzbekistan’s economic reforms.
The event highlighted how media and civil society can serve as a bridge between government and citizens by improving access to information and fostering public trust. Participants discussed practical measures to enhance openness in economic policy, improve communication on reforms, and leverage digital tools for greater efficiency.



Key achievements presented at the round table included:
- Data Accelerator for Economic Journalism: 30 journalists trained, 19 mentored, and 6 media projects developed and showcased.
- Three thematic dialogues on Anti-Corruption, Mahalla Budget Management, and Employment of Persons with Disabilities.
- Workshop for government press services, recognized as a milestone in improving public communication and access to information.
Panel discussions explored topics such as open budget data, collaboration between government and independent media, and the role of data-driven journalism in strengthening accountability. The event concluded with recommendations for long-term cooperation to ensure citizens are better informed about economic reforms and sectoral policies.
