On 18 June 2026, the British Ambassador to Tajikistan, Her Excellency Catherine Smithton, visited the sewing workshop of grant recipient Hulkaroy Hakimova in Jabbor Rasulov District, which received support under the project “Supporting Subnational Economic Growth and Improving Public Service Delivery in Tajikistan”.
During the visit, the Ambassador met with the entrepreneur and the women employed at the workshop, learned about the project’s implementation, and observed the operation of the newly installed equipment. Discussions focused on the project’s contribution to expanding production, creating employment opportunities for rural women, and strengthening women’s entrepreneurship.

The sewing workshop “Bonuvoni Gulijahon” is one of seven local businesses supported through the project, which is implemented by the NGO “Saodat” in partnership with the Development Policy Institute (DPI) under the Effective Governance for Economic Development (EGED) Programme, with financial support from the UK Government for International Development.
The project supports the growth of local businesses, promotes job creation, and contributes to sustainable economic development in the pilot jamoats of Sughd Region.
