On 4–5 February, the Modern Journalism Development Centre hosted a two-day practical training for 20 press service representatives from government organisations in Tashkent and the regions under the UK Government’s EGED programme (media component) implemented in cooperation with the Development Policy Institute. The training aimed to strengthen participants’ capacity to communicate more effectively with citizens and the media by using modern digital tools and data-driven approaches.

Over two days, participants developed practical skills in storytelling, open data, mobile journalism, AI tools, media monitoring, reputation management, and data visualisation. Through hands-on exercises and simulations, they learned how to transform complex policy information into clear, citizen-friendly messages, prepare engaging multimedia content, and communicate reforms in a transparent and accessible way.
By strengthening the communication capacity of government press services, the training contributes to more transparent public institutions, better-informed citizens, and greater public trust in reforms. Participants also explored practical approaches to working with independent media and using open data to improve accountability and public engagement.
Shared takeaway: Transparent communication in public reforms is essential for trust and accountability.
