On 9 November 2022, ACTED, together with its project partner, the National Association of Small and Medium Business of Tajikistan, held a public discussion and consultation on the development of a simplified guide to the new Tax Code and internal instructions of the Tax Committee for civil society organizations and the private sector.
The event focused on tax regulation for the public and private sectors, as well as cooperation with the tax authorities of the Republic of Tajikistan. Participants discussed how to make tax legislation simpler, clearer, and more accessible, thereby contributing to a more transparent and accountable tax reform process.
Tax reform is one of ACTED’s economic policy priorities under the Effective Governance for Economic Development (EGED) Programme, implemented in cooperation with the World Bank and supported by the UK Government.
ACTED’s overall objective in supporting tax reform is to strengthen the capacity of civil society organizations to promote more transparent and accountable implementation of tax reforms. These reforms aim to simplify tax payment procedures, improve voluntary tax compliance, and reduce corruption.
