On 10–11 March 2026, representatives of the UK and Central Asian statistical offices met in Astana to exchange experience on improving the quality of official statistics, accreditation processes, and the use of administrative data in official statistical systems.
The event provided a platform for participants to explore practical approaches to quality management frameworks, compliance with international standards, and the management, integration, and use of administrative data. Discussions focused on strengthening the reliability, transparency, and quality of official statistics through modern data governance practices.

The meeting also reinforced professional cooperation between the national statistical offices of Central Asia and UK experts, facilitating the exchange of knowledge and best practices in evidence-based statistical production.
The event was organized under the Effective Governance for Economic Development (EGED) Programme, funded by the UK Government, in partnership with the Bureau of National Statistics of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the UK Statistics Authority, and regional partners.
