The results of the study became the subject of public discussions, during which the Government, civil society, and development partners of Uzbekistan came to the broad consensus on the need for measures aimed at achieving gender justice. In particular, the Labour Code of Uzbekistan now pays special attention to working conditions of women (including provisions on maternity leave, protection from discrimination at the workplace, etc.). The results of the study helped to formulate gender-equitable language of the Labour Code, including a provision on equal pay for work of equal value and an explicit prohibition of gender discrimination during the hiring process.
