On March 5, Economic Press Club Tavоzun was held, organised by PO Khoma with the support of Acted in Tajikistan. The discussion focused on the development of the middle class in Tajikistan. In particular, the discussion focused on the general understanding of the middle-class concept, as well as the methods for identifying the segment of the population that can be classified within this group. Representatives from the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade shared that a new methodology was adopted in February, which will be used to determine the percentage of the middle class in the country
During the meeting experts of the project “Effective Governance for Economic Development” presented an analysis of middle-class development based on the experiences of foreign countries. The concept of the middle class is relatively new in Tajikistan, and the goal of the meeting was to raise awareness among journalists so they can effectively cover issues related to the development of the middle class in the country.
