On 26 November, the Acted office in Tajikistan together with the NGO ‘Huquqshinoson’ and the Secretariat of the National Development Council of the Republic of Tajikistan organised a consultative meeting of the 5th Intersectoral Working Group on Productive Employment within the framework of the National Development Council under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan.
During the meeting, the issues of job creation, including employment of people with disabilities, as well as indicators of the Medium-Term Development Program (MTDP) for the period 2021-2025 were discussed. Special attention was given to the presentation of the research on productive employment aimed at assessing employment challenges and opportunities faced by vulnerable group including people with disabilities.
The study highlighted the growing number of people with disability in Tajikistan, which creates an additional stain on the state budget if provocative measures are not implemented to improve access to employment and vocational training. The presentation also provided targeted recommendations for the development of a new MTDP for the period 2026-2030 period.
This event was organised as part of the «Effective Governance for Economic Development» program (EGED), supported by the UK in Tajikistan and implemented by Acted in Tajikistan.
