On February 18, the State Committee for Women’s Affairs convened a meeting of Interagency Working Group No. 12 on Gender Equality, bringing together representatives from government institutions, civil society, and international organisations. The event was organised by the National Association of Small and Medium Businesses (NASMB) with the support of Acted in Tajikistan.
The discussion centered on women’s participation in the country’s economic development, with a particular focus on entrepreneurship. Special attention was given to social entrepreneurship, which plays a vital role in creating employment opportunities for vulnerable women and supporting their economic integration. In this context, participants also reviewed the recently enacted law on Social Entrepreneurship, which expands opportunities for women’s economic empowerment.
This event was supported by the UK in Tajikistan and European Union in Tajikistan within the «Effective Governance for Economic Development» (EGED) programme and CSO-GO for GOVERNANCE project, implemented by Acted in Tajikistan.
