The UK-funded EGED Programme is transforming lives through the Inclusive Horizons project in Uzbekistan. Implemented in Navoi, Namangan, and Samarkand regions, the initiative equips low-income women and youth with disabilities with vocational and entrepreneurial skills to build sustainable livelihoods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Since its launch, 488 participants, including 227 persons with disabilities, have completed short-term courses in baking, sewing, computer literacy, hairdressing, and soft toy production. Beyond training, the project provided sessions on entrepreneurship, marketing, and financial literacy, and delivered consultations from legal and psychological specialists. To turn skills into opportunities, 98 graduates received small grants to start micro-businesses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Success stories are already emerging, for example, in Navoi, graduates are employed at a local toy company producing 200 handmade toys daily.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Take Jurakulova Dinora, who launched a pastry business and keen to open a workshop and create jobs for women with disabilities and those living in difficult conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
